Over the last year, Safe Baby Court has focused heavily on our processes in supporting families find housing. We’re seeing all of that hard work pay off as many of our parents move into apartments and houses this summer. Transitioning from inpatient facilities, sober living agencies or couch surfing, a majority of our participants are moving into empty houses without beds, furniture and other basic necessities.

In late May, we reached out to friends and family soliciting donated household items and were overwhelmed with the response. We have a 10 x 15 storage unit that we continue contributing to so our moms and dads don’t have to worry about furnishing a new home. Magistrate Fortune has also discovered some real gems at local estate sales that are waiting for a new home in storage. It’s been such fun helping parents bring their dreams of a new home to fruition as they take this giant step in their recovery and their journey towards reunification.

  • Furniture – Beds, cribs, toddler beds, bunk beds, couches, end tables, coffee tables, stools
  • Baby/Children Items – Cribs, toddler beds, bunk beds, bouncy seats, rockers, toys in good condition, baby proofing items, walking toys
  • Decorative Items – Lamps, rugs, wall hangings
  • Kitchen Items – Pots, Pans, Dishware, Bowls, Cups, Utensils
