In March 2020, SBC was awarded a COVID-19 Response mini-grant of $3,000 from the United Way. Safe Baby Court used these funds to help participants with rent, utilities and cell phone minutes.
In addition to these basic needs, a portion of the funds was used to put together Wellness Boxes for parents and caregivers. Each box included toilet paper, paper towels, soap, face masks, gloves, tissue paper and a Walmart gift card. These boxes were delivered by Safe Baby Court staff and allowed us an opportunity to check in with parents and caregivers while maintaining social distancing. We were able to help 130 individuals have access to protective gear to maintain CDC guidelines as they went about their daily tasks through quarantine.
